Pathway 2
Desks and chairs for schools and preschools

Many schools in Christchurch are upgrading, some are merging and sadly some schools are closing. As a result many schools have excess resources that are surplus to requirements. Pacific Pathways is partnering with the Vanuatu Ministry of Education to distribute the resources to the schools in Vanuatu.
We are currently working in the Sanma Province that includes the islands of Espiritu Santo & Malo.
The desks and chairs are shared between the 10 schools zones in this province. Year one tables that seat 4 children have been given to preshools ( kindy's) so the children have a smooth surface to write and draw on.
Making a difference one desks at at time - for the children in Vanuatu more desks and tables, means more children can attend school and preschool.

Dear Ms Sue, Re: Gifts of books, desks and chairs I am writing on behalf of the Zone 7 Head Teachers , who wish to join with me in expressing our sincere gratitude for the numerous books, desks and chairs that have recently arrived in Santo, sent from Christchurch, to the schools here in Santo. Such resources are so appreciated and so important in endeavouring to raise the academic standards in our schools and they are being speedily shared out among our schools both in the urban area and in the rural areas. We ask that you would please pass on our sincere thanks and appreciation to all those schools who donated the resources and also to those who were responsible for actually shipping them here to Vanuatu – not an easy exercise! Once again, our thanks to you and your colleagues in New Zealand from your colleagues over the sea in Santo! Yours sincerely Zone 7 Head Teachers , SANMA Education Office, Luganville, Espiritu Santo, VANUATU |
