'Kits for Kindy' - so they can learn to play and play to learn

In Vanuatu, kindergartens/Preschools do not get any government funding, they are set up and supported by the communities as best they can. In most cases this is very difficult financially; as a result most kindy, (the Bislama word for kindergarten) have few, if any teaching resources, play equipment or furniture, and some teachers work for no pay but for their love of the children.
Most pre schools are built from local traditional materials with a dirt floor or some may have a concrete floor, but few have any furniture. The children sit on the floor, they draw and write using a small blackboard on their lap.
On our first trip to Santo, we visited a number of kindy and realised the need for resources. So to help with this we have set up the
'Kits for Kindy' project.
We have had a great response to this project. On our second trip in October 2014, we delivered our first lot of 'Kits for Kindy' . In the picture on the banner, the children from Iethvekar Kindy, east coast Santo receiving their kit for their kindy, filled with exciting resources.
The kits were donated by the women of the Inner Wheel Organisation of NZ. Each Club made up 2 kits each so we took over 22 kits in total. We delivered these kits in person to the kindergartens we had previously visited on our first trip in March. The kits were received with great appreciation and thanks.
